Handy postpartum items

Postpartum, those first few days & weeks. I personally remember the newborn days pretty clearly, considering I was highly sleep deprived I think I was also completely infatuated with my little girl, I didn't want to miss a second. I thought it may be handy to share some items that my beautiful clients found handy in those first few weeks. I love social media for that reason, we can all come together & help each other. I know I would have found this pretty helpful as a first time Mum, I hope you do too.

1.Lansinoh® HPA® LANOLIN - 100% ultra pure lanolin - everyone was raving about this cream. I have found this item at Chemist Warehouse, available online if it is easier for you. If you choose to establish breastfeeding, this can help soothe sore, cracked nipples. This item doesn't clog pores or milk ducts. Add this to your hospital bag, doesn't sound like you will regret it.

2.Postpartum underwear- Lots of women said they preferred the undies over regular pads. They are easy to get on and off, and more convenient. I personally used these and have to agree!

3.Prepare meals before bub arrives- Prepare and freeze meals for a month in advance. It is so easy to grab and heat up during those first few weeks. I find this handy now, for those busy times with a toddler. Organisation is always a great idea ( note to self-haha)

4.Trolley on wheels- This was a new one to me, having a fully stocked trolley with all your essentials so you can move it around where you need it. I still remember having a nappy station in all corners of the house, this could have been handy!

5. Little eyes gentle cleansing wipes- These are great to wipe anything from your little ones eyes, being super sensitive this is a great idea.

6.Haaka- this is great for catching letdown but also a great idea to relieve sore nipples. Simply fill it with warm water and a tablespoon of epsom salt. I was told it fixes sore, cracked nipples so fast and releases blocked ducts- great idea!

7. White noise machine- A great way to soothe bub off to sleep. My little one has used a white noise machine for most of her life, she loves it.

I hope these items are handy for you. Postpartum is a unique experience for everyone. I found the recovery of birth fairly straight forward although I wish I did have a little more info on the importance of seeing a physio for your pelvic floor. I think that would be my biggest advice, take care of you too. I would say to take the days slow, the cleaning can wait, those newborn cuddles don't last forever. I still remember resting my head against the wall in the shower from pure exhaustion, a good kind of course.

The days are long, years are short.
